Life Fitness

The Life Fitness program at Milgate PS aims to combine the components of Values Education & Social Competencies into a program that promotes personal and interpersonal growth in order for each student to develop as a Global Citizen.

Students at Milgate PS will actively learn about how to relate to others, to manage conflict and to respect and value differences. We recognise that students’ learning, social functioning and wellbeing are interconnected and that students are better prepared for learning when they are in a supportive and engaging environment.

Central to the program is the focus on the development of student ‘coping strategies’, or self / personal responsibility and self-discipline together with the student’s connection to the school and overall confidence and self-esteem.

The program has eight categories

  1. How do I look? Perception and interpretation of social cues
  2. How do I feel? Recognition and appropriate expression of emotion
  3. What am I saying? Communication in a range of social relationships
  4. What are my choices? Responsible decision making
  5. What is my responsibility? Self management
  6. How do we treat each other? Social problem solving
  7. Can we work it out? Constructive conflict resolution
  8. How can I bounce back? Flexible coping skills.
