Compass Program
The Compass Program is a junior version of the Duke of Edinburgh's Award and caters for students in years 5 to 8. In 2004 Milgate became a registered member of the program. The fundamental aim of the program is to develop student's self esteem, confidence and initiative. These aims are achieved by students taking an active part in a wide range of activities which they have chosen, by accepting challenges that are presented and striving to achieve their personal goals. Their involvement and personal growth is recognised through the provision of special awards and certificates.
Creative Music Instrumental Program
Creative Music for Schools conducts a School Music Program of private or small group classes each week aiming to give children an excellent grounding in music. Small group and individual lessons are available in keyboard, guitar and percussion for students in Grades 1 to 6. Students in Grade 3-6 can also learn flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet and trombone. There is a concert at the end of each semester. Lessons can be started at any time during the school year.

Kelly Sports Gym Club
Parents are able to enrol their children in a weekly lunchtime Gymnastics Club.
Kids Hope
Over the last two years Milgate has been involved in a student welfare program, KIDS HOPE AUS, which is organised by World Vision Australia. The program connects carefully selected volunteer mentors from Faithland Christian Church Donvale to nominated students, in order to help build the students' resilience and sense of belonging. It is a non-religious program that aims to support academic, social and emotional development. The students meet with their individual mentors each week and can be supported with their work and reading, as well as participate in informal chats and games.
WiseOnes®
WiseOnes® is a program which aims to challenge fast learners with complex and abstract thinking. Through engagement in fast-paced, multi-disciplinary Units of Learning, children build confidence, gain new knowledge and develop life skills such as perseverance, self-management, co-operation and ethical decision making.
