Our Multicultural Community
Milgate Primary School has a rich cultural tapestry with 49% of our students coming from countries outside Australia. We have significant cultural groups including, Chinese, South African, Fijian Indian, New Zealand, Greek and Italian.
LOTE Program
Milgate Primary School offers students the opportunity to learn the Chinese Mandarin language as a second language. We provide students with a well structured program suitable to their level of understanding. We aim to develop students’ language awareness and skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing. Our program also provides opportunities for students to learn about Chinese culture, and therefore increase their intercultural knowledge.
LOTE Extension Program
We offer students the opportunities to extend their Mandarin language skills and to further develop their understanding of the language through participating in the extra curricular LOTE Extension Program.
